Did you know that before our tea shed was even born, our vintage tea lady discovered the rabbitea teapot which became our logo?
One sunny Sunday morning back in 2010 our Tea Lady went off to Melton Car boot in search of tea treasures. Whilst rummaging through a box of old china, she came upon a most delightful teapot, encrusted with ivy, leaves and 4 white rabbits. It was perfect. No chips or cracks. But where was the lid? She carefully picked her way through the contents of the box but it was nowhere to be seen. She decided to keep it anyway, as it was such an unusual pot. She carried on rummaging through more boxes and discovered a few more tea treasures. Including a pretty primrose tea cup and then suddenly - what's this? Just underneath the up turned cup a little white rabbit appeared. It sat up on top of a green leafy mound. Was it the missing lid to the rabbitea tea pot? Yes indeed it was, the perfect lid to the perfect country teapot.
The rabbity teapot represents our eco friendly tea room, which happens to be a wooden shed, designed to sit in the open countryside and blend in with its surroundings. It is full of recycled / up-cycled things, including vintage china and wooden furniture. Outside you'll find more up-cycled seating, rain water collecting system, flower beds buzzing with bees and butterflies. Another little shed which happens to be our eco friendly dry composting toilet, sits along side! There is also a secret garden, but shhhh! Don't tell anyone just yet. It's our secret!
So I think you'll agree that our terracotta, green leafed, white rabbit teapot represents perfectly who we are.
Here's an arty sketch of ArTeapot. A little doodle by our ArTea Lady, but that's another story for another day.
